I am back with few more interesting points which you all may not be aware of. Have you ever wondered why do we celebrate a specific day? and how do we celebrate? what's so special in it? Which city it came from?. The facts behind the construction of famous statues, monuments, buildings and others?. Like wise many more questions run in our mind… Yes? Yeah… So, today i am here to provide you some interesting points which may help you because Knowledge is Power….
Let's enter little room of knowledge…
a) Each November, a town named Lopburi in Thailand, celebrates a special feast for local wild monkeys. This feast is named as Annual Monkey Buffet Festival. It is celebrated on last Sunday of November month every year. Locals believe that the monkeys bring good fortune.
b) Do you know in which country do people celebrate the “Day of the Dead” ? It's Mexico. It is celebrated on 2nd November every year. On this day, families and friends gather to pray for and remember their loved ones who died.
c) Before using pumpkins, Turnips was the vegetable used to make ‘jack-o’-lanterns'.
d) In Canada and the USA, According to legend, If a groundhog sees its shadow on Groundhog day(celebrated on 2nd February), there will be six more weeks of winter. Clearly, When a groundhog comes out of its hole at the end of hibernation, if it sees its shadow- which means its sunny day, it goes back into its hole, which is a sign of six more weeks of winter.
e) India is the world's leading banana (29 million tones per year) and mango (20 million tones annually) grower . China holds the second place in banana growing (11 million tones per year).
f) Modern-day Pizza was inspired by the colors of the Italian flag. The first pizza was served to Queen Margherita of Italy. It was made with white cheese, green basil and red tomato.
g) The deep-fried Mars bar was created in Scotland. French fries were originated in Belgium.
h) Each of the five Olympic rings is a different color represent the five major regions of the world involved in the Olympics. Blue represents Europe, Yellow represents Asia, Black represents Africa, Green represents Oceania and Red represents Americans.
i) In Malaysia, some athletes play tennis using their legs and feet instead of racquets, which is called “Foot Tennis”. It involves passing a ball across a net using the feet, knees and thighs.
j) The bell inside the Clock Tower in London, England is nick-named as Big Ben.
k) The animals that appear on Canada currency are the Beaver, the Caribou and the Polar Bear. The Jaguar appears on the currency of Brazil.
l) During the festival called La Tomatina, thousands of people hurl 120 tons of tomatoes at each other in the streets of Bunol, Spain.
