You must haveYou must have heard about Mewar Bhil Corps (MBC) but you will be stunned to know its history. Be it curfew or law and order issue, when the hour of trouble comes, the jawans who are seen are engaged in our security for the last 180 years. The Mewar Bhil Corps has a long, heroic and successful history of service and patriotism. It is said that when the British were in power, the people of tribal society used to give them a tough fight. In such a situation, only to deal with them, the British proposed to form a 'Mewar Bhil' Corps attached to the local people. The same army is now working in the name of MBC. At present there are seven companies operating in total. A headquarter company and from A to F, there are total six companies working. C company is also stationed in Kherwara. 120 jawans are working in a company. Each company is headed by a Company Commander from CI Bank. A total of 950 personnel including soldiers are serving in MBC. The demand to declare a battalion has been going on for a long time but is still pending. “The British used to build police stations during the day, they were broken in the night”:-
It is said that when the princely state of Mewar made a treaty with the British, they built police stations during the day to stop the rebels and the tribal people used to break them at night and go to the mountains. This upset the British. Then he made a treaty with a Bhil leader from here, then he said that an army in which only tribal society should be recruited, only then we are ready to support you. Later the first commandate was also made the Bhil leader.

The Mewar Bhil Corps was established by the British with the aim of controlling the situation in the event of unrest in the Mewar-Vagad region. When MBC came under Rajasthan Police, its higher officer was made IG RAC. The administrative set up of MBC is one Commandant, one Deputy Commandant, 3 Assistant Commandants and one Commander per company. Now battalion jawans are serving the country by joining NSG and SP.
