How To Serve Apple For Babies

              Baby food must be nutritious . Babies are growing day by day. So, they need more energy. We should try to include fruits and vegetables in their foodchart.

             Apples are one of the best first fruits we can offer to our babies. It has a good amount of fibre, vitamin C, B6 and antioxidants that help growing babies thrive. Moreover, babies will definitely love the taste of apple. It can be offered to them from six months.

            Raw apple is one of the top choking hazard for babies below three years. Apple skin in itself do not pose much choking risk, but it can cause a lot of gagging and spitting. So, better to remove it for small babies. Above two years, most babies are ready for sections of raw apple. But, serve only when a child is seated safely and supervised.

         So Let's see how can we offer apples to babies, start by removing the skin of the apple.

6-9 months

Cut the apple into two halves and steam until soft .

For baby led weaning, you can offer the steamed apple as it is. (Just make sure it is easily squishable between your two fingers). You can also mash the steamed apple and offer it in a preloaded spoon.

You can also use this to sweeten the porridges, yogurt, etc.

Can also grate the raw apple and offer it in a preloaded spoon.

10-18 months

Serve paper thin slices of apple to your babies.

Apple puree is same as apple sauce. We can cook the apple by steaming or baking and then it should be blended.

Let’s see how we can steam the apple. Take the steamer and place water in it. Allow them to boil. Add apples and cook until it is easily smashed by a spoon.

Baked

Take a pan, and rub butter or oil. Then, add the pieces of apple and cinnamon and bake.

Apples have high pesticide residue. So,

·       Soak the apples in baking soda or turmeric powdered water for 15 minutes.

·       Peel the skin off of the apples.
