Judged By Salary

We all know taking dowry is bad and it is being going on for a very long time. It is a kind of rule that is continued or followed by lots of educated family but… there is a big but.

People are now protesting if family demands for a dowry, law is there to help bride's family. But nobody talks about groom's family. It all starts from beginning or from the search of a bride or groom. Everything is wrong. A guy is judged how much is his monthly income or much property he will inherit. Is there been any writing for this kind of mentality of bride's family?? Is there any punishment for this?? Or any law??

In today's paper if you saw a wedding advertisement it is like a shopping for a product “need a wife who will be able to cook and be house wife, fair, tall, soft spoken etc.. ” Same goes for “need a handsome guy, fit, tall, doctor or engineer, with good salary as a husband”. These are the posts of highly educated people and still this is the mentality.

People have become so desperate these days that they posts requirement of wife in social media websites. Not with brief description but with a paragraph description. And still some parents think it is best that children's should do arrange marriage. When a bride's father search for a groom you know 62%asks for a good pay then for a good person not the other way around.

Another fact I would like to put is that, is age really a factor? In most Indian marriage guy has to be older than the girl. Previously I could have get the logic that girls were prevented from education maybe that is the reason they wanted an older men in their daughter's life but now everyone is educated. Age should not be a matter now. But lots of relationship doesn't happen due to this kind of social obligations. Marriage is a sacred ritual. Lots of people misuse it for lots of wrongful purposes. Child marriage is a big topic which I would like to vent out on another blog.

Society puts a lots of pressure on us but it's time we need to speak up for this wrong doings or start doing the actual work when we face this kind of situation in real life.
