Privacy is a myth. The most burning topic and getting good corner in newspaper is Pegasus spyware which is a malicious software. Actually the logo of Pegasus  is having a deep meaning in Greek mythology which means a winged horse that sprang from the Gorgon medusa and now in modern times it is used for  poetic inspiration. This malicious software was developed by  an Israeli Cyberarms firm named as NSO group in year 2010.

This software has been designed to get access of device and later on stoop all the information from the device without the permission  and knowledge of the user. This software is very faithful towards their user as it got access to recipient device and information,  the same rely back to the person who is spying .NSO have  revealed that they only sell this software to sovereign countries but haven't ever indicated about any particular country or organization. Its a kind of Trojan Horse malware which can be spread through air to infect other devices.

This Pegasus malware got revealed In September ,2018 by The Citizen Lab , a Canadian organization which published a report in which they revealed that around 45 countries including India is using this software .Further later on In october,2019 ,A social networking site , Whatsapp revealed that in India ,Journalists and Human right activists are targeted through Pegasus spyware. A bad news for IOS user that this spyware have the ability to access an IOS and Android both .Later on Apple worked on this but there also Pegasus was one step forward .

This spyware can make situation more worse as it can open the microphone as well as camera too and silently observe everything. This spyware can monitor approximately 500 phones in a year and track approximately 50 phones at a time. The hacking is seamless and it can get access through phising links and some spam links ,through text messages ,earlier it was through phone calls too. They have an access of encrypted data too.

The most interesting thing that it has the ability  of “self destruction” ,if it has not been operated by hacker  till 60 days or sim is changed it can easily get vanished from the device and the user will never get aware to any malicious thing in his/her device. It was made by Israeli company to get information about terrorism and unethical activities but it's not working accordingly. NSO revealed that they have given access only to govt intelligence and law enforcement to track any crime.

And this spyware is again in limelight by yesterday and day before yesterday incidence where a database has been leaked by “THE FORBIDDEN STORIES”,  in which approximately 1000 of Indian nos. have been hacked. In which around 300 nos. have been verified which includes 2 union ministers, opposition leader-Rahul Gandhi, Abhishek Banerjee ,Ex Election Commission Lavasa  ,many journalists ,leaders ,legal community businessman ,government officials ,scientist etc. Pak PM Imran khan phone has also been  tapped and this is turning into different level of politics.

The price of this software is approximately 7-8 million dollar which can hack approximately 50 phones only. The internal politics and allegation will go on. I will come up with new blog which will be regarding the government initiatives for this malicious software and cybersecurity.
