As Today Is Indian Army day which is always celebrated on 15th of January every year. Also Called as Amrit Mahotsav .Today is 74th Indian Army Day and I took this platform to write about Indian Army and pay Tribute to them. Indian Army also called as Bhartiya Thal Sena was founded on 1st April,1895 approximately 125 years ago. It is called as thal sena because it is land based branch and one of the largest armed force in India. The Supreme Commander Head of the Indian Army is the President Of India. The Head Quarter Of Indian Army is in New Delhi. The motto of The Indian Army is -"Service Before Self" means (Seva Parmo Dharam) which leads to think about others before yourself ;think about the country and then about you and your family.
The actual origin of Indian Army belongs to East India Company before Independence which later on become British Indian Army and after Independence turned as National Army. In 20th Century, during 1st World War, approximately 1.3 million Indian Soldiers served with British forces and helped them. During Independence; British Indian Army were divided among the partitioned country India and Pakistan. And after that they served for country at its extent level and never stopped again. They participated in different important wars like Indo -Pakistani war of 1947,Annexation of Hyderabad(Operation Polo)in 1948,Annexation of Goa ,Daman and Diu in 1961,Sino Indian war(1962),Indo - Pakistani war of (1965), Kargil war(1999) ; where India regains Kargil, Surgical Strikes on Kashmir and(2016-18) ;India - Pakistan Conflict, popularly known as (Uri Surgical strike) (a successful surgical strike on Line of Control under the supervision of Late Bipin Rawat (Ex - Head Chief Defense Services).
The structure of Indian army is very complex .First comes up the Army (commanded by Chief of Army Staff) then Command then Corps( Commanded by Lt. General) then Division(Commanded by officer of rank or Major general then Battalion (commanded by Colonel) then Platoon (commanded by JCO).There are mainly 6 commands of Indian army named as Northern, Southern, Eastern, Western, South-Western, Central, Army Training etc.)
And now Why Army Day is celebrated ? It is celebrated every year in the recognition of our first Commander in Chief Of India ,Lieutenant General K.M Cariappa's. He took over this position from Francis Butcher on January 15,1949. And this day remained as History in India. And a day to celebrate in India and recognized as Amrit Mahotsav.
