A wedding in Kashmir is a celebration like in every part of world . It is sacred thing in kashmir . It is the journey of life . In Kashmir wedding is a process. A mixture of happiness , emotions , customs & beliefs. A kashmiri wedding is most exciting thing one can witness. Wedding lasts for 3 days . In kashmir , Bride is known as  “ Mahrin “ & Bridegroom is known as no ”Mahraaz” .

First day is known as “ Malmaenz". On this day , wedding process actually starts . One this day , a bride's hair is tied in small plates known as “Waqee Paren ”.

 Also brides prefer applying heena on her hands and feet on this day . People usually women , who are either family , relatives , neighbours or friends sing kashmir songs. This is really very fun and exciting . Although bridegroom doesn't go through same process some fun activities are preformed there too. Lunch and dinner  is served to all the invitees. Also tea and other things are served too .  In general people love the vibe of Kashmiri wedding . It goes according to the basic kashmiri custom and culture.

People are well dressed on the occasion . Females also apply heena on hands to show happiness . People are very busy and happy . The house is well decorated with flowers and lights. The bride and bridegroom is the star of show and are given high class treatment . 

The second day of wedding is known as "MaenzRaat " . On this day a bride starts with ritual bathing known as Aab sherun and makes lot of wishes and wear a traditional outfit known as pheran. Its a beautiful attire making bride look like a fairy.  And Bridegroom also performs ritual bath and trims his hair or beard ( not mandatory ). And lot of wishes are made . Blessings are given to both for a new beginning.

Towards end of the day nikkah is performed .Some do it on third day of wedding while others do on second day . Bride and Bridegroom cut cake and enjoy .

The day third is known as " Yuenwool " and is considered a main day . It starts with Bride and Bridegroom receiving gifts from all the invitees. After this a lavish feast is served known as wazwan. On this day bride and bridegroom dress up elegantly . After the lunch feast bridegroom is welcomed at bride's house . The welcome is very heart warming . Mother in law of groom welcomes the groom by offering sharbat ( milk with dry fruits and saffron).

And special kashmiri folk song is performed known as Wanwun and dance known as Rooh. After than the dinner is served to bridegroom and his invitees. After that bridegroom takes bride known as Ruksati . This is full of emotions for bride as she leaves her parents home to start a new journey of life . After that bride is welcomed at her in laws . And the new journey begins . The kashmiri feast is very famous in whole world . It contains lot of dishes , along with some walnut and onion chutneys and kashmiri pickles .It is served in large plate and four people eat together which shows the cooperation , simplicity and love . The feast is served  along with some curd and soft drinks and some other things . Some packets for carrying extra dishes are provided so that food isn't wasted . In short Kashmiri wedding is divine and beautiful .
