Today I am going to write about a personal experience I went through . It about an interview I gave after doing my graduation . The interview was for an internship (project management).
I was keen for my career growth . Although I was planning to study further and also took an admission to a master's programme. I still thought it was better to gain a practical experience . So , I decided to do a job or an internship . I searched everywhere for the opportunity and finally found one internship advertisement .
I as a fresher couldn't find a job because experience is necessary for many employers. So I filled a google forms and luckily got shortlisted and called for interview .
I hadn't faced any interview before but I wasn't nervous at all . I knew I can speak nicely . So I decided to give it a try . I went to the office where interview was to be conducted . While I entered I was surprised no female was working there . I wasn't that comfortable but not even uncomfortable . I told admin about my interview which was scheduled at 10 a.m. I found him surprised but I didn't mind and took a seat . Working environment was not so formal but I didn't mind that . After waiting for 1+ hour I came to know HR manager isn't available and my interview will be conducted by some other employees . I found it little bit odd but decided to give it a chance .
I entered the office and saw two people who would conduct my interview . So it started they didn't ask me for an introduction nor anything and started asking questions. Start was ok I was answering nicely obviously I was able to communicate in a better way than they even could but I am not judging them they could be better at work than anybody else .
Buy eventually I felt little uneasy when one person started interrupting while I was answering questions . Than I turned to him and answered few questions . It was going well but I had already sensed that it wasn't interview but a play time because they were not really interested nor they where listening .
Meanwhile , other person said you know this isn't definition ."You are wrong "though I didn't and most of people would agree with my answer . He laughed and tried making me uncomfortable but I wasn't the easy victim . I asked about what it means than .Can you explain ? To which he didn't respond . Further he added you don't know anything . To which I responded what is your qualification. I knew they won't hire me nor they had any intention of hiring any intern. Coming for a place with less industries internships and other things are fun for few employer's. I really was upset by the interview and still asked feedback and asked about why females aren't working here. He told me you can improve and left other questions unanswered . I went home and was really upset about it . But I was more upset about things that people still consider female less than males . Although we have the potential .It discouraged me a lot but I managed to encourage and motivate myself to work harder. As a fresher it's really hard to not do well but two people or more cannot decide your worth .
And female's are no less than a male .
Hope you like it .
