Climate change is the most defining crisis of our time and is a phenomenon that is happening right before us in a frightening speed than that we imagined. First of all climate change refers to the long range shift in temperature and weather patterns. While we regard Climate change as a thread, we also share the warning made by US secretary John Kerry, who stated climate change as perhaps “the world's most fearsome weapon for mass destruction”

“The Day After Tomorrow” is a 2004 American Eco-disaster film directed, co-produced and co-written by Roland Emmerich, an German director, screenwriter and producer. Being known as a master of disaster-genre films, Emmerich portrays a catastrophic climate change through the film “The Day After Tomorrow”. The movie reveal mainly through the characters, Jack Hall, Sam Hall and Laura Chapman. Jack being a ecologist strive to make a change to the growing economic crisis but he and his ideas gets rejected in name of the huge expense that it might cost. As the story reveal Jack's struggle it also focus on his son, Sam who is about to leave to New York as a part of Scholastic Decathlon team. From this point the story shows the climate change that happens throughout the world including the sudden snow hail in many parts of the world. The movie also focus on personal aspects of the characters as it depicts the love interest of Sam towards his teammate Laura.

As the personal lives unfold the crisis also strengthen itself as disaster falls one after another. As the world realise that a major climate shift has occurred, half of the world was already thrown into chaos and it is shown through the lives of  Sam and his friends who gets affected by flood. As half of the world experience disaster the majority of the survivors are forced to migrate to other parts of the world while many gets stuck in some places like Sam and his friends who are stuck in a public library in New York. The rest of the story then portrays the efforts of Jack to rescue Sam from New york.

This movie might be considered as a exaggeration but the fact that a rapid climate change is happening before us shows that the warning that the movie depict is supposed to be taken seriously. It is necessary to act at the right time than regret for what is lost.
