Hello my dear readers. Hope all are doing well and good. This is my first blog and is about my pet, betta fish.

When it comes to a pet most of you will be thinking it will be like a cat, a dog or some kind of birds. And the answer is a big no. The pet that I love the most is my betta fish. Seriously they are very friendly when loved and cared. It’s been a year I am looking after my betta fish. I have 3 different fishes.

ABOUT THE FISH

The betta fish is also known as ‘fighter fish’. As the name indicates the fighter fishes are very aggressive and will fight with other fishes when put together. So it’s better to give a betta fish a separate tank. A bowl is enough for the betta fish.

Coming on to the food and the tank conditions, it is very easy to maintain these fishes. They just require very minimal and a cost effective kind of caring. Huge varieties of pellet foods are available in the market which is very helpful in their growth and health.

There is no need to change the water unnecessarily. It can live without food for about two weeks or more. So if we are not able to feed the fishes means, they will not be having any trouble. There is no requirement of oxygen set up like what we do for other aquarium fishes, since our betta fishes will take their oxygen from the air.

TYPES OF BETTA FISHES

There are wide varieties of betta fishes available in the market. All the fishes are very attractive. Here am going to list out some of the fishes:

Crown tail

Halfmoon

Plakat

Halfmoon plakat

Feather tail

Comb tail

Double tail

Delta

Spade tail

Round tail

Veil tail

Round tail

Dumbo ear

Rose tail

Giant

These are some of the betta fishes. As you can see that the specification is mainly for the tails. They are very beautiful and available in vibrant colours.

COMMON DISEASES

As I have told earlier that these fishes are very easy to care, on the other side there are some minor kind of infections or diseases that may affect our betta fish. So I will be mentioning some of the commonly seen diseases in them.

CONSTIPATION: The condition where the fish will not be able to eat anything and will not be active. This is mainly due to over feeding. So we have to be careful while feeding the fishes and should limit the feed up to 3-5 pellets a day or else the fish will be feeling sick.

FIN ROT: It is a kind of bacterial infection which may occur due to the poor water quality. The water need to be changed during proper periods. The best way to treat this is by changing the water and by adding a little amount of salt in the tank.

POP EYE: This condition is also mainly due to the bad water quality, where one of the eyes of the fish will be bulged out of the socket. If not treated the fish may loss the eyesight. This can be cured by changing the water on a daily basis and by using certain antibiotics like ampicillin.

VELVET DISEASE: The disease due to bacterial or parasitic infections, where the fish will not take the food and will be very unhealthy and inactive. The condition can be treated by changing the water continuously and cleaning the fish bowl using potassium permanganate.

So these are some of the information regarding my pet.

Thank you…..❤️
