What Is Social Distancing?
Most of us call it "social distancing," but it can help to think of it as "physical distancing" instead. Social distancing, more appropriately called physical distancing. And is not always straight forward and if you are sometimes unsure, you are not alone.
Social distancing puts space between people. By keeping their distance from others . people infected with the virus are less likely to spread it.
Best to keep a safe distance whenever you're around people you don't live with.

Whether outdoors or indoors, stay at least 6 feet away from other people and wear a mask.
It is important to be clear that it is close and extended personal contact that increases our risk of transmission. Coming into close proximity to someone incidentally is unlikely to lead to transmission.
Follow local guidelines on things like how many people can gather in groups and what activities are good.

Self-isolation and quarantine both mean you have no contact with the public.
These people are asked to stay away from others for 14 days or longer. Make sure they do not spread the virus during “pre-illness" or incubation period. They will let you no if a covid-19 test is needed, and what the next steps should be. If it is believed someone in your family has COVID-19, quarantine will be recommended.
