I've gone through the best verses of Shreemad Bhagavad Geeta to deal with the problems of today's world.

Tackling Depression?

These following verses from holy book Geeta could help you fend off your depression. Only requirement is to understand beyond the texts. And don't take this as words of a Hindu holy book, but take it as words of the best self-help book ever known.

Verse 1

  • Chapter 2 Verse 3

Purport: Krishna to Arjuna, in the battlefield of kurukshetra. Parth, this change of motion of yours doesn't befit your valour. This is a battle of righteousness, and you're the one who's holding blazon of dharma in this battlefield. You're not the one who, by your own will, can engage in bloodshed of unrighteous. It's me, who is making you do it. I'm the one who is playing with the brain of strategists of enemies to make this "battle of righteousness" happen. so, leave your unmanliness behind and get ready to face challenges.

Verse 2

  • Chapter 2 Verse 13

Purport: Arjuna keeps uttering the fact that, the army who's against he's destined to fight is not the army of enemies, but the army of my loved ones; my grandfather, uncles and cousin brothers. And I'll surely cease their existence, and that's what I fear the most. Krishna said: Arjuna, life and death is a continuous cycle, and is mandatory. You're not the one who could snatch a “life” from anyone. You're just a a source, through which this great work of dharma is meant to be happen. From childhood to Old age, it's a cycle, and great men doesn't get deluded by this fact.

Verse 3

  • Chapter 5 Verse 21

Purport: The above verse is a part of karma yoga. Krishna says that, individuals who aren't attached to sensual pleasures, realises the spiritual bliss with themselves. Not only material and sensual pleasures, but also the material pain is indeed temporary. Karma yoga talks about uniting with the creator through various means and ways. When you're in search of that "bridge" that can pass you from material to spiritual bliss, then it's for sure that you reached a way ahead from material pains; i.e. depression, pain caused by your loved ones. Eternal happiness could be experienced through oneness with God, through yoga.
