What Does Being Intelligent Really Mean?

Many people think that a person is intelligent only if he is educated, can speak fluent English or is just doing a great job. If you too have the same opinion then sorry to say this, you are wrong. In the poem “two kinds of intelligence” Rumi mentions the two different kinds of intelligence , one which is inborn which is your value system, thoughts, and opinions. And the other one which you acquire from your education and society. He calls the inborn intelligence the real intelligence because it is natural and you can’t hide it no matter how intellectual you present yourself in front of others and this is the only thing that matters, you would have seen many highly educated people behaving immaturely or speaking rubbish things which sound senseless but you still see people following them just because of their background or the job position they acquire today. Something that you must understand is that creativity, intelligence, leadership, and many other values don’t need any kind of education to become a part of your behavior, there are many real-life cases where you will see people who are slightly less educated making more sense than Harvard or Oxford graduates. Education only gives you a platform to present yourself , it can widen your perspective and open doors of opportunities for you but it doesn’t guarantee their implementation. For example: Your teachers taught you that honesty is the best policy but are you really honest ?? It is the same in the case of intelligence it doesn’t come up with 12-15 years of education it is just there in you, made up of your thoughts and opinions. If you want to take it out try introspecting and finding out what your values and ideas are. Intelligence is also the ability to change, if you really wish to become intelligent in real  life then try to change your bad ideas into good ones, bad habits into good habits, make small changes in your behavior and run behind pleasing your soul not your mind , senses or desires and stop judging people based on their education qualifications or the family they are born in, instead appreciate their thoughts ideas and opinions. A great idea or opinion doesn't needs an educated mind to grow, it needs a open mind to be nourished.
