Hii friends!! In my last blog I talked about what are natural resources and the categories they have been divided into. In today's blog, we will be discuss about the types or kinds of natural resources. Natural resources are divided into land, water and power resources. We will be seeing them one by one.
Land resources
There is 25 percent land on land, rest 75 percent is water. Lands are a very important source for us. Land is further divided in different land forms such as mountains, plateaus, deserts etc.
Why is land important?
Land is important fue to various reasons:
A.) It helps in agriculture.
B.)It is the warehouse of all natural resources.
C.) It is a shelter to many insects and microorganisms.
D.) It helps trees to grow.
What are forest resources?
Forest resources are resources which are obtained from forests. For example, bamboos, timber, paper etc.
What are the uses of forest resources?
A. Woods obtained from forest help us to make furniture, matches, boats etc.
B. Forest provide us food.
C. They are a shelter to wildlife.
D. They help us obtain medicinal herbs and plants.
Now,that we have talked about land resources and I hope you understood them so, let's talk about water resources now.
Water resources
Our planet earth is 75 percent, but unfortunately only 3 percent of that is drinkable freshwater which is stored in glaciers which accounts 2 percent , in conclusion we have only 1 percent water to use. Even though water changes it's form but it's total volume on earth remains the same.
Water pollution
The contamination of water due to human activities is known as water pollution.
Let's see the various reasons of water pollution:
1.Wrong irrigation practices
2.Uncontrolled industrialization
3.Ignorance of people
4.Lack of awareness
Now, let's see power resources
Power resources
These resources can be further classified into conventional and non- conventional resources.
Conventional sources of energy include sources such as firewood, fossil fuel etc. They have been in use for a very long time. Firewood is used by 50 percent households in India to cook. It is very harmful for the environment. It is one of the main reasons behind greenhouse effect and deforestation. While fossil fuels are the remains of ancient animals which were buried under soil and are now used as a resource like petroleum and coal.
