WHO CREATED HANGEUL (HANGUL)?
King Sejong the Great was the one who developed Hangeul. King Sejong is very well recognized for his various achievements and is also known as one of the greatest kings of all times of the Joseon Dynasty. During the era, in which King Sejong was ruling Korea, it is believed that nation developed as a whole. There was progress in agriculture, music, law, science and technology, medicine and most importantly development of the Korean language. King Sejong was the one who led all of this development.
However, the acclamations received by King Sejong was not only due to his great skills and achievements but also because of his love towards his people. He always made efforts to improve the conditions and status of his people and was often known to be gracious to all.

Hangeul is ranked as the 13th most popular language in the world. In total, 7.8 million people in the world use Hangeul for communicating. Korean/Hangeul is the national language of Korea hence majorly used in North and South Korea. This language is also used in China, Russia, Japan and 7.2 million Koreans living overseas. It is said that the simplicity of Hangeul characters is what makes it easier to learn and read. This factor is considered very beneficial South Korean economy. Of course, the growing interest of people in K-pop and K-drama has lead to an increase in the number of people learning Hangeul. Hangeul has been recognized as an appropriate language in this digital age. The use of Hangeul or Korean alphabets in artistic fields, literary work, and other fields beyond the simple means of communication is immense. So to answer the question, Yes Hangeul is indeed a popular language.
HOW DID HANGEUL (HANGUL) COME INTO EXISTENCE?
In Korea, Hangeul was never the first language to be used. It was created by King Sejong along with his fellow Korean scholars. Before Hangeul came into existence, the elites of Korea used Chinese characters as a source of communication. The common people suffered a lot due to this as they were facing difficulty in learning Chinese characters and hence were treated unfairly. Noticing the gap that the language created within the Korean society, King Sejong the Great decided to create an easy to learn set of characters, hence creating a language. This led to the cultural expansion of the nation as everyone could now easily share the same language.
