Hey Candlemonk family!
Today is workout Wednesday and today's blog will be focused on a certain type of exercise. I'll give you insights into Cardio.
What is Cardio?
Cardio is the short form for cardiovascular. It is a stage Or zone when our heartbeat is increased by 50% of the normal heartbeat. On average, our heartbeat is 75-80 beats per minute but in the cardio stage, the heartbeat reaches 110-190 beats per minute.
How is this stage achieved?
You may have a misconception that cardio is done only in gyms Or during exercise at home. But actually, all the activities that take your heart rate up are cardio for your body.
Cardio is a condition that is achieved by almost everything we do.
Time: the duration for which we're doing our activities
And
Speed: how fast are we doing these activities
Determines how many calories will burn.
What does Cardio do to our body?
When we do cardio, our heart rate goes up. From this line itself, we get to know our heart is involved. Our heartbeat increases which mean our heart pumps blood faster. When blood is being pumped faster it means every tissue and every organ of our body receives more blood, especially our brain.
• So by doing cardio our blood flow improves, our body functions better.
• It keeps our hearts young.
• Our lungs function better because increased heart rate means heavy breathing.
• We sweat while doing cardio, our calories burn.
Who should do Cardio?
Men and women both must do cardio.
It doesn't matter what your body goals are.
Burning Calories with Cardio
While doing cardio, our body burns 4 components.
Our body burns these in a specific ratio.
What will burn more during the cardio session depends upon our diet and nutrition.
Myths related to cardio
The biggest myth is that cardio burns our muscles.
This is not true. As stated above, "Our body burns these 4 components in a specific ratio. What will burn more during a cardio session depends upon our diet and nutrition."
Muscle can burn but only when:
The catabolic stage means a person is starving, not eating enough food. Our body needs fuel to function which is provided by what we eat.
At this stage, the body takes up fuel from muscles, which leads to muscle loss.
Cardio for fat loss
Cardio can help you lose fat! For losing fat you need to make 4 changes in your diet + cardio.
Four changes are:
By these changes, the body burns carbs and more fat during cardio.
A 20 minutes cardio session helps you burn around 200 calories.
I hope you found this blog informative. I'll make efforts to provide you with a workout blog every week.
Have a Great Day fam!
