Whew! Just today I saw a most short-sighted and stupid act. I saw a number of people-seemed like the local municipal workers-hacking down some healthy green trees. Why did I not stop them? I was travelling in a bus, that's why!
As I was proceeding homewards, upset and depressed at this prime example of stupidity, I began to wonder. What would happen if there were no trees on earth? An earth without trees?
Then I realized that this is merely a hypothetical question- if there were no trees, we would not be there! But just to imagine it was scary.
If there were no trees then, animals would have become extinct. This would have disturb the food chain. There would be no rain and because of that we may have shortage of water. There will not be any pure oxygen. And this may have attract many diseases to mankind. Whereas because of shortage of many things there will be problems for living being. And we cannot even imagine facing this sorts of problems in our lifetime, we know the consequences of the things we are doing now.
And here we are cutting trees and harming nature for our benifits, whereas we need to plant trees and prevent nature for our better future. By doing this we are giving rise to another Chipko Movement.
In short nature is good place to be peacefully, but we humans destroy it for our livelihood for our living places, food and our needs. Nature will be good only when we human beings don't destroy it and take care of it very well.
Survival of mankind without nature is impossible and humans needs to understand that. If nature has the ability to protect us, then it is also powerful enough to destroy the entire mankind. Every form of nature, for instance, the plants, animals, river, mountains, birds and many more holds equal significance for us.
Nature is beautiful because it is alive, moving and reproductive. In nature we observe growth and development in living things, contrasted with the static or deteriorating state of the vast majority of that which is manmade. Nothing is quite beautiful alone, nothing but is beautiful in the whole.
So from this we should decide how to treat nature and how to cherish it. Because sometimes we never knew a value of something until it becomes a memory. So lets preserve this beautiful nature and give ourselves a chance to breath fresh air.
