Today my vlog isSterilization:

The process of complete destruction of all forms of micro organisms that includes bacteria, viruses and spores by either physical or chemical method.

Disinfection:

The process of removal of all or many pathogenic micro organisms except spores from an in animates object. Thus, the disinfection will not ensure the complete removal of micro organisms; however,it should be made sure that the process should not leave any pathogenic micro organisms that can cause disease.

Terminal disinfection:

The disinfection of room or area where a patient with highly infectious disease was maintained or treated in the intention to prepare the room or area for further patients occupancy.

Antiseptic:

The prevention of infection on wound or skin normally by inhibiting the growth of bacteria by chemical agents.

Decontamination:

The process of removal of micro organisms from the object so that they are safe to use or discard.sterilization, decontamination and antiseptic are all forms of decontamination.

Cleaning:

The physical removal of dirt that contains the organic and inorganic matter. It is a very important prerequisite for effective sterilization and disinfection. The physical removal of organic and inorganic matter is very important,as these may support the growth and presence of micro organisms in an object.

Methods of sterilization:

Physical method

Chemical method

Physical method→sunlight, heat

Heat can be classified in to dry heat and moist heat

Dry heat→red hot, flaming, incineration, hot air

Moist heat→Temperature below 100°C→pasteurization,inspisation

Temperature at 100°C→boiling

Steam at atmospheric pressure→koch and Arnold streamer

Steam under pressure→autoclave

Filtration can be classified as candle filter, asbestos filter, sintered glass filter, membrane filter,HEPA filter

Radiation can be classified in to ionising radiation, non ionising radiation

Ultrasonic and Sonic vibration

Chemical method

Alcohol, aldehyde, phenol, halogen, heavy metals, surface active agent, dyes, oxidizing agent, gases

Physical method of sterilization

Sunlight has an appreciable amount of germicidal activity due to the combined effect of ultraviolet rays and the heat rays.

Heat is one of the common and reliable method of sterilization in hospital and clinical laboratory.

Dry heat

Denaturation of bacterial proteins includes enzyme, oxidative damage,Toxic effect of elevated levels of electrolyte.

Sterilization is carried out with following conditions

Pressure:15psi

Temperature:121°C

Time:15min

HEPA filters HEPA stand for High efficiency particulate air.The HEPA filters has an efficiency of filtering the air contaminants thank you
