Indian Premier League (IPL) had to be suspended as a result of many players tested covid positive. First, Kolkata Knight Riders player Varun Chakraverthy was tested positive then Chennai Supekings bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji.
After that this two teams went in isolation. But the bad news continued..
More tested positive, Amit Mishra of Delhi Capitals and Riddhimaan Saha of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Cancelled means total stop, no matches will be played.Suspended means there are chances that matches can take place in near future.
(And IPL is suspended)
Can IPL matches take place ?
There are very little chances that IPL matches will take place in the future. Only little chances are that before T20 world cup which was planned in November, 2021 can be played in UAE. But chances are still very low 10 to 20%.
1. Multiple stadium used.
2. BCCI only cared about money
3. Should have be organised in UEA
4. Players were in Panic.
5. Payers left: Showed that every thing was not right
Initially only two stadiums were used for the IPL one in Ahmadabad & other in Mumbai. When the country's Covid situation was worsening what was the need to arrange matches on multiple grounds in Delhi, Hyderabad etc.
Multiple stadium means travel, and travel means risk of Covid. Why.? Why BCCI was only thinking of money from IPL and was careless about players.
When there was a burst of Covid in the country and when when there were war like situation how can a sports tournament take place simultaneously.
When many times IPL was organised in United Arab Emirates then why not during this pandemic crisis. Planning was failed.
Looking at the number of covid cases each day and insufficient beds and insufficient oxygen in the country players had to travel to stadium to stadium for matches having high risk of Covid-19.
There was a panic like situation among players and many left IPL giving some or the other reason. Ravishchandran Ashwin giving the reason of playing to much cricket did not participated. And Australian player Andrew Trai also.
Andrew Tye of Australia was the first to speak openly on this matter and said " How can I nation have a sports tournament and spend so much money when they don't have enough beds and oxygen cylinders and people dying of pandemic.
1. Broadcasters: How much the broadcasters will ask for after IPL suspension that is a big question.
2. Franchise: All the franchise will ask for certain amount as they have to pay for their players.
3. Take foreign players safely to their homes. There is no issue of domestic indian players. But what about the International players mainly from England, Australia and New Zealand. Australia has stopped allowing anyone from India how will BCCI deal with this.
