‘Gone Girl’ is a psychologically written, brilliant book. The story revolves around a married couple, Nick Dunne and his wife Amy Elliott Dunne where Amy disappears mysteriously. leaving everyone to suspect Nick Dunne
Who are you? What have we done to each other?
Nick Dunne finds himself asking such questions
The first part of the plot mostly involve investigation process which become quite tiresome to read. With the slow pace of plot, it gets boring and difficult to understand each and every psychological game, Nothing is same as it seems. A little patience and perseverance is all it takes to reach the second part of the story. The shock striking twist in second part covers for the disappointment from the first part.
Different sides of characters are revealed with unraveling of truth. it shows how the actions of one led to destruction of other. The gasp inducing twist and stomach churning turns make this thriller the most addictive bestseller where a reader is glued to read until the last page.
If you are planning to read which I suggest you should then you'll definitely need a read partner to confer about or you can discuss with me. Always up for interesting discussions :)
If you are planning to write a perfect piece in future then also you should read this book once. This is one of the books with the perfect use of show and don't tell technique.
Just deal with the first part of book which would be easier if you are into investigation stuff then this book will become one of your favorites.
Rating 4.8/5
Gone girl is adapted into a Netflix movie, released on 10 October 2014 starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike as main characters.
Runtime: 2h 29m
Movie is great as well but it lacked in certain areas. It did not have the full picturisation of Amy's character and her sense of thinking. Book was a more detailed version. The understanding of their relationship is more clear in the book. Their relationship was to key to unravel the truth.
Keeping the movie independent of book, then it too was a masterpiece with mesmerizing performances of all the actors.
Loved watching it:)
