This blog is for all the book lovers out there. In this blog i will be lending out a review for the book “Bad blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley startup - by John Carreyrou".
First let me begin by giving a brief introduction about what the book is for those who have not yet heard about it or read it. This novel is 100 percent a true story.
The story revolves around the life and journey of a businesswoman and entrepreneur named ‘Elizabeth Holmes' who made it big (to an extent - you will understand once you have read the book) by building in her silicone valley startup company named Theranos. She initially started out as a academically bright student and later went on to drop out of college and build through her own startup. She worked hard enough to build on her idea of a making a small device which could facilitate blood tests for any diseases at home itself. How she built on this and the challenges she faced will be clear to you once you have read in the book.
The amount of determination and efforts she put in to put her company amongst the top is highly creditable and if done in the right way she would have maintained her top position for a long time.
This novel according to me is one of the most understated books. Each instance has been compiled and highlighted by the author so deeply with a proper link that it definitely worth both the time and money.
Elizabeth Holmes is really a personality to learn from about what to do and what not to do.
This book will definitely keep you on the edge of your seats and one will not be able to keep it until knowing what happens next.
Elizabeth Holmes is such a person who has had her fair chance at fame and success as well as seen the flip side of the coin by tasting what failure feels like, right from the beginning she had set her aim on success and achieved it quite quickly overlooking the problems and challenges. Being a smooth talker helped her overcome the stuff that normal people usually do not think of doing.
Navigating the corporate world the way she did really requires guts though ethical or not is a discussion for another time. it really is an amazing read and with a great amount of learning.
