Is Online College Worth It?

Here we are back in June again with the admission for new academic year starting.

I'm am a Filmmaking Student  and trust me this new normal online college have been much more stress full. What are you all studying let me know in the comments.

I gave my Fy in offline college back in 2019 and being in the first year I enjoyed my college days not just by siting and hanging out in canteen with my friends but also attending lectures and making short films as our academic projects.

Then when I came to SY the pandemic started , at first we as  students were quite happy of college being closed but never did we knew that we will be having online lecture for  semester lll  until further notice.

After a month attention online lecture I realised that online lecture are not that easy to understand the practicality of our filed in film making. Lectures were definitely not that interactive like before it was in offline classes .

We were given so many practical film making projects , ad film making projects that it became Impossible  to do it all alone but we had to do it because we couldn't meet if team was created due to the lockdown .

This sounds so much surreal but yeah the college gave us final project of 100 marks  and each team should have 8 people , now imagine what chaos it was to make a film sitting at home having team mates living in diffrent cities. But yeah we managed to make it and submit it on time , ofcourse it wasn't that great how it should have been .

Till now you must have got that my experience of attending college online was not at all good.

How was your experience of online lecture?

Now it's June academic admissions for TY have started and I'm in a big big big question of should I or shouldn't I .. and I'm sure I'm not the only one here.

Fees for filmmaking course isn't that low either , ₹60,000  for a year. Now this ₹60,000 includes the studios cameras and practical experience facilities available in the college but due to the pandemic we students are not allowed to use them , now this is so unfair and I literally feel that my parents hard earned money is being waste .

I can't even take a break because it's my last year and we don't know how long this pandemic will go and when will  offline lectures start , I have to take admission anyway but sadly my skill set of practical knowledge will not grow.

There's no other choice I see.

What is your take on the online college system ?

I guess courses with practicals are worst hit byCOVID and it's disappointing when the college authorities don't try to negotiate a new fee structure when the classes are online. Good luck to you.
