What if we were to transport ourselves back to the so called golden era of current middle aged generation - yes 1990. How would it feel like to be waking up on a fine morning in 1990. Let’s go back and try relive a day during this period.
1990 - An ideal day would kick start with a warm bed coffee/tea alongside Hindu, Indian Express and those who cannot afford home made tea/coffee can still buy it from nearby petty shop at an affordable price, newspaper reading habit can also kickstart free of cost from the same shop.
1990 - Afternoon usually will involve a calm lunch stuffed with full of nutritious & tasty food, more importantly people consumed what they wanted to consume, happy and tummy full, no doctors scared them in the name of calories, proteins, deficiency, etc.,
Food in general consisted of all essential nutrients, much needed vitamins, etc., less time spent visiting clinics.
1990 - Office atmosphere tend to be more sustained and more often than not closing hours remained 6-7 PM, people had time to get back home and spend quality time with family and friends.
1990 - Television sets were of luxury during those days, had to choose 1 out of 2 channels which in itself was a great privilege, and we were to watch all types of shows ranging from entertainment to education. We were craving to get outside to play with friends, no video games.
1990 - Going to bed will mostly be around 10 PM, more importantly no gadgets around to nag you, fresh air to breath, listening to all India radio for some pleasant music beats, remained the bed time agenda.
2021 - Morning tends to be long and most times end up with having so called brunch, western notion for combining breakfast and lunch together. A quick glance at the news app can get you the hurried news, never ever had chance to look at the shining sun.
2021 - Afternoons carry hurried lunch more of a duty, thinking cap always on around pending tasks to be completed during the rest of the day. Most often foods consumed are either preserved or cold stored.
2021 - Office culture focus only on productivity alone, which tends to exploit additional hours and family times had to be compromised most times. Limited rest times are also engulfed in tracking social networking sites.
2021 - Television sets are of normalcy these days with so many channels with most of them (except few) producing no use content. Despite, glueing in front during free times cut short the already shortened family time bonding. Play time with friends outside is a rarity, video games rule the roost.
2021 - Bed time involves smartphones occupying some bed space, along with air conditioned rooms with posh set up yet finding time to sleep remains a challenge, sleep time predominantly hit late nights due to recklessness and stress.
There were a lot of things we were to experience during those days, cannot be easily penned down..
Indeed 1990 was a golden era for those who were privileged to be a part of it.
Try and relish whenever you can :-)
