Is Social Media A Distraction?

Hey Guys!!

What's up? I hope you all are safe and sound.

I am back with yet another blog on a very general topic, SOCIAL MEDIA.

Since the pandemic we have become very prone to using social media. Since the pandemic, our internet usage has gone up. The packs which used to be limited to 1.5 GB/day, now seems to be a little amount of data because now most us have adapted to the online mode in various ways, in which the limited amount of data isn't enough for our work. Yes, you got that right, most of us have got WI-FI installed in our homes.

When we have something limited with us, we tend to use it wisely. Back then, internet and social media were to a limited extend but now because of shifting from offline to online has increased demands of everything.

Social media from the past one year has been way more active than before, or we can say that it was active from a long time but it took long enough for us to realise. In the pandemic, where people lost jobs, some of them turned to social media for their living and they are succeeding in it too. But on the other hand where social media can provide you with a good outcome, it can become a distraction for you too very easily.

Our colleges/schools/offices have shifted from offline to online, which in turn made it a less serious topic. You all must be agreeing, since you all have been experiencing the same.

From the day we started taking schools/colleges/wfh less seriously, we started to engage in activities that otherwise would have been a waste of time.

I find myself sometime wasting time on social media, knowing that I have lot of important work to do. Social media kind of let's you slip into the mode of laziness and procrastination. The entertainment which we get by watching certain videos/reels to some point is acceptable, but once you start ignoring the fact that you should be doing more important things that just wasting your time on social media, that's when you get addicted to it.

Social media can be just like other drugs, that leave you addicted to themselves if they overpower you.

If you use Social media wisely, then it can turn out a great tool for you, but if you let it over power yourself, you will end up getting no where in your life.

But above all, Social media is more distracting, than benefitting.

I didn't mean to offense anybody and if I did, I apologize to you in advance. If you agree with me on any of the points, kindly drop in a comment. I would be happy to hear that.

Thank you making it till the end! Best wishes to you all.
