We spent some time with the new Verna when it was introduced to assess how far the game had advanced from the original Verna. Hyundai has crammed the 2017 Verna with goodies and a radical stylistic motif in an obvious attempt to quadruple sales of its sedan. These are our five main findings.
1. The new Verna has a large, luxurious appearance that makes it appear to be of a better class. It looks like a four-door coupe with its swooping style and the way the roof flows in, but everyone is raving about the front-end design. In person, the new Verna appears to be futuristic with the strong and radical styling.
2. The new Verna includes features that are comparable to much more expensive automobiles, which is where a huge leap has been made! A redesigned two-spoke steering wheel with buttons that provide haptic feedback is part of the design that strikes one as being distinctive. The dashboard's design is elegant and luxurious due to the soft-touch materials used. The beige-colored inside is for basic petrol trims, while the black interior with red accents is for the turbo.
3. A wheelbase of 2,670 mm, which translates to increased interior room, has improved the amount of space offered compared to the previous Verna. Despite the sloping roofline, the back seats have plenty of room and even the headroom is acceptable for even tall people. Even if there is a little middle tunnel, the back seat is still the best option for two passengers. Yet, the seats themselves are really cosy.
4. The new Verna is packed with goodies, the most notable of which is the new 10.25-inch screen with a clear arrangement and switchable settings for the climate or entertainment system underneath. Then you also get heated/cooled seats and a motorised driver's seat. There are other features like a cooled glovebox, 64-color ambient lighting, leather seats, a rear curtain, a smart trunk, a sunroof, paddle shifters, connected technology, and more. Moreover, level 2 ADAS functions are present on board.
5. The 115 horsepower, 1.5-liter petrol with CVT and 6-speed manual transmissions in the new Verna range has efficiency ratings of 19.6 km/l and 18.6 km/l. While the new 1.5l turbo-petrol engine features a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT, it has a higher power output of 160bhp and 253Nm. The efficiency rate is higher at 20.6 km/l for the DCT version and 20 km/l for the manual.
