When we were young, are parents, teachers, friends and family often asked us a question, which was, “what do you want to be when you grow up?”, to which most of us responded with- teacher, pilot, doctor, policemen etc.., however, he most common answer among most of the kids was to be an “astronaut”
Space has never failed to fascinate mankind. When we were kids, we often used to count the number of stars in the sky and joke about being able to go there one day. When we started attending elementary school, we learned about our planet, it's natural satellite, the big yellow Sun and also had an introduction of our neighboring planets. We would often get mesmerized by famous sci-fi movies like - Interstellaer , Passengers, The Martians and many more. Such movies have played a vital role in building our imagination and understanding regarding the space travel.
If Space Travel were here today, then I suppose the technology of our world would be at it's peak. We would be able to understand the unsolved mysteries of space, explore new planets, solar systems or even travel through various galaxies! Our main aim would be able to find us a new planet, as seeing the current situation of Earth, we would soon be needing an other planet to start our journey from. The second aim would be to find any presence of life in the outer space. This question has troubled humanity ever since. Both the thoughts of being alone in the universe and having the presence of life other than ours in the outer space are scary.
If Space Travel becomes more and more common amongst people then instead of going to the beach or the mountains for summer vacations, people would rather go and spend their time on neighboring celestial bodies like the Moon or Mars for that reason. For this to happen smoothly, we would have to build something called the “ Space Ports”, similar to that of the Sea Ports or the Air Ports. For example, if I am living in India right now and want to travel to Norway, I would first take a flight from Delhi to Oslo and then travel to Norway. The flight taken by me in Oslo is called “connecting flight”. Similarly if I want to travel to Saturn from Earth, I would first stop at the Mars and continue my journey from there. This allows us to travel a comfortable journey.
To summarize everything, If Space Travel were here today, then we would have abundant knowledge of our surroundings, our past and also our future. We might also solve the mysterious of Time Travel, Black Holes, White Holes, Worm Holes and many more. As a teen myself, I wish I would be able to experience Space Travel and also have answers to the unanswered questions.
“The Earth is the cradle of humanity, but mankind cannot stay in this cradle forever.”
