The name Singapore comes from the malay word “Singa” for lion and “Pura” for city. Prior to the settlement of Europeans, the Island, now known as Singapore, was the site of a malay fishing village, home to hundred of Indigenous Orang Laut. Singapore's reputation as the city of Gardens, is not surprising. Parks such as the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, the Botanical Gardens and the new super park Gardens by the bay are home to approximately 4,00,000 Plants.

13. The tallest Indoor waterfall in the world is located in the Singapore's Gardens by the bay 35 meters high.
14. Singapore's Night safari is the world's first night zoo.
15. Bukit Tima Hill, Singapore's highest natural point, is only 164 meters high.
