It is known for its lush, hilly landscapes with cherry blossom trees and centuries - old Buddhist temples, as well as coastal fishing villages, subtropical islands and high- tech cities like the capital Seoul.

Koreans are one year older when they are born

You may have heard the idea that Koreans are alwalys older than anyone  else because they think they are one year old the moment they get out of the womb. Koreans clebrate their birthdays on the day they are born, just like everyone, but their age “doesn't change” Until the New year, which is January 1st of each year. If you want to know the age of Korea, just subtract the year of birth from the current year and add 1. It's best to remember this when someone in south korea asks for your age, as you need to distinguish between your international age and your Korean age.

South Korea is the Capital of the world of Plastic Surgery

When it comes to interesting facts about Korea, this is the most popular or notorious, depending on how you look at it. Although still taboo in other Asian and western countries, plastic surgery is widely accepted in south Korea and parents recommend that their children do it before they enter college.

South Korea is said to like the appearance of white people very much. That is, they usually have surgery to get double eyelids, a long nose, and a sharper chin. This look was first popularized by Korean celebrities, followed by everyone else. Having plastic surgery in south Korea is as common as going to a dentist to get an your braces. So don't be surprised if most of the Koreans you meet have been under the knife before.

Men wearing makeup are common in Korea

Regardless of their gender, Korean men normally wear makeup just as much as Korean women do. It's no secret that the cosmetics and skincare industry in Korea has quickly paved its way into the world stage. But their products were never made for women alone because in Korea, everyone wants to look their best.

Koreans often reach for BB or CC creams and pinkish lip color to keep themselves presentable outside. There isn't any discrimination against men wearing makeup in South Korea at all, which is quite liberating.

Red ink also hints at death

Korean culture uses red ink to write the names of the dead, and unless you want to kill someone, using it on other occasions is almost unacceptable. However, when traveling to south Korea, you only have to stick to the black or blue pen. By the way, Koreans may misunderstand your intentions when you see your name written in red ink, so write in a color other than red.

Korea doesn't like beard

Any shape of facial hair is disliked in Korea. It is believed that this was Koreans did not grow much facial hair in the first place, and the standard of male beauty was limited to a shaved, clean, smooth and youthful complexion. Men who grow beards and chest hair in South Korea are considered unfriendly and even barbaric. This fun fact about south Korea may sound strange, but the truth is that facial hair can even hinder korean employment.
