Hey everyone, as you know that navratri week is going on. i am enjoying writing about such a beautiful festival. the festival of navratre signifies a celebration and togetherness. Apart from being the oldest festival in india, it is also celebrated all over the country. A special color is associated with each day of Navratri, which signifies the importance and meaning of each day. As i already told you about that, Maa shailaputri is worshipped on the very first day of the navratri and Maa bhramacharini is worshipped on the second day of the navratri. 

The third day of Navratri is signified by peace and calm. this day is devoted to Maa chandraghanta who is also believed to be the Shakti of Lord Shiva. she also reffered to the married form of Parvati. she is known to protect her bhakts or people from evils. 

As we know that Maa was known as sati in her previous birth and she also married lord shiva and sacrificed her life when her father insulted Lord shiva. As i already discussed about this in my previous blog. 

Then after her tapa as Maa bhrmacharini and lord shiva agreed to marry her.

The marriage preparations were going with full enjoyment. then Lord shiva came up with strange marriage demonstration. ghosts, goblins, sages and ascetics were the part of that demonstration. Lord shiva also have many snakes around his neck and his body was also smeared with ash. All the relatives went away from that by seeing that terrifying look of lord shiva. Maa parvati got worried about this and at that situation she took tha avatar of Maa chandraghanta. She also turned as terrying as lord shiva, her color was turned golden and with ten arms. Her nine arms were carrying different weapons and tenth arm was there to give blessings to her bhakts.

In this terrifying look, she came to the lord shiva and convinced him to take his noble form. lord shiva agreed and transformed her into normal form. 

Finally they got married…..

Maa chandraghanta vehicle is lion. this avatar of goddess Durga shows that can be both compassionate towards her devotess and terrifying towards her enemies.

She is known to bless her devotees woth divine grace and fearlessness. Maa chandraghanta is the most powerful and strong avatar of maa Durga and also too offer Relief from sufferings and distress.

So it was the story about the third day of navratre….
