So today we are going to talk about snapchat a famous app that has gained its interests in teenagers of age 11 to 17.
What is snapchat ?
Snapchat is an app that is used to exchange multimedia messages with the help of snaps and many kind of filters available inside the app. In this app we can chat also but due to an amazing feature which is when you send a snap its doesn't get stored on the host device instead its disappears or you can set a time limit.
Who developed it ?
Snapchat was developed by two students of Stanford university who were Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murph, but why? they thought that emoticons aren't sufficient to exchange emotions between two friends. But they thought that a picture from a cell phone become disastrous if they are leaked or being shared unanimously for that they created a concept of a time limited photo sharing and then the app Snapchat was born.
Why is so popular between teenagers ?
Now a days kids and elders like to take photos with filters so why use another apps where only you can apply filters and later send to another messaging app instead use snapchat where you can directly click the pictures and share instantly with friends. Due to picture saving functionality like Facebook and Instagram where anyone can see your old photos but apparently todays kids they don't wanna share their old photos which may not cool as compared to their recent pics. A very disadvantage of other messaging app is that you have family, friends or teachers connected with you whom you don't wanna share your old pics in which you look ugly or bad that you are not in present so Snapchat lets your photo not saved and you are saved due to this its famous.
Is snapchat good for teenagers ?
Snapchat is good for teenagers when they are chatting and snapping. According to a study its is extremely popular with 41 % of teens varying from age 13 to 17 years. It has a good property that when someone takes a screen shot of the chat or photo or save it to their device then a message on the chat box appears what the person did to let the other side person know what is being done with their snaps or messages. Its good until “sexting” part comes into the story as the company claims that 25% of users send sensitive contents. Its a good app if you know how to use it unless it will lead a person to an addiction of adult contents and as an accuse of bullying, cyberstalking or sexting.
