As we grow up, We get to understand many things. Sometimes looking back makes us realize where did we go wrong. What we could changed our decision which would have eventually turned the life from present.
If you talk to an elder, you will see they have many regrets in life. And the purpose of this page is to protect you from any such regrets. So today I will share some tips which will help you take correct decisions and avoid any regrets later.
Few common regrets of people are:
NOT DEVELOPING ANY SPECIAL SKILLS
During our teenage we are more focused on having fun. Education and extra curricular seems a waste of time. But don't forget this is the perfect age to grasp a new skills and become an expert in it. It could be baking, writing, cooking, dancing, music, different language etc, anything which gives you an edge to earn more than a person without any such skill.
Even if you do not excel in studies, you can always earn from these special courses. You will never regret not having enough education if you are good at something unique. So my advise will be to create a balance between fun and learning to avoid any repentance.
NOT SPENDING ENOUGH TIME WITH FAMILY
As teens, you tend to be more involved with friends.Since parents always keep advising and correcting, spending time with them seems tough for you. But remember, family is the foundation.
Parents want the best for their children and have expectations. They want you to be perfect in everything and that is why they keep nagging you. If their actions and words hurt you, Convey your feelings to them. But give them their share of time and attention too.
NOT LISTENING TO YOURSELF.
Though you are young and unable to take certain decisions, but there is a small voice inside each of us, which guides us in right direction. Try listening to it. Don't let it rule you though. Listen to your body. If it demands rest, give it. If it needs to work, do it.
Your body is your happy place. Self love shall be encouraged and done. Self love is not selfish, to the extent that you are not doing it selfishly. Take care of yourself.
NOT TAKING CARE OF PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH.
Teens are most likely to be lazy and procrastinators. Being young, they hardly feel need to work out. But taking care of your fitness since young age will let you stay young for a longer period. Habits take time to form. So when need will arise, you will find it difficult to start working out. So keep yourself physically active.
Similarly mental health needs care too since young age. You must practice meditation and yoga besides anything that provides you mental peace and calmness.
NOT HAVING A HOBBY
As we grow older and become busy in life, we tend to forget our hobbies. Hobbies are activities which take our mind off daily tensions and refreshes us. Hobby could be reading, gardening, sports activity, cooking, listening to music, collecting things, etc.
NOT VOICING YOUR OPINION
Sometimes, teens are not allowed to speak up as they are considered young. But if you have something in mind, you must voice it firmly yet politely otherwise you will feel later in life that you should have spoken at that time. If however, your opinion is wrong or harmful, be apologetic too. Don't be rude or egoistic.
NOT HAVING FUN
Teenage is all about making memories and having fun. Indulge in activities responsibly which does not harm others. Enjoy life to the fullest. Make the best of friends, have a great time but make sure your actions do not harm your future.
So all young people out there, I hope this article will help you take right decisions and have a happy teenage full of amazing memories.
Happy Journey!
