Hello dear readers
Thank you for coming back to my blog.
Today we shall be discussing about various preparations I did to welcome God Ganesha for 11 days.
BRINGING HIM HOME
First and foremost requirement is to find the perfect statue or sculpture to bring home. What to look for:
~ The right size- big or small according the space where you gonna set up.
~ It shall be Eco-friendly, so that you are not harming the environment
~ whether you want a colored sculpture or a non-color one
~ there shall be a mouse along with the statue. Mouse is the vehicle of Ganesha and its a must have in your idol.
~ Nowadays people make flour idol which can be consumed by ants , and chocolate idol which can be immersed in milk and distributed among children.
PREPARATIONS AT HOME
~ As you have your Ganpati Idol, you must cover it with a red cloth while bringing it home.
~ If you are getting the statue a day in advance, it must be kept covered till the final day of worship.
~ make a dedicated place to set up the idol. Place the murti on a small table covered by a red or any bright colored cloth. Put some raw rice and flowers on it.
~ Decorate the entire room or the corner. Make it beautiful and comfortable for the God to rest and stay.
~ Place a glass of water, a coconut, flowers, and most important is the grass. Ganesha loves Green grass known as “doob” or “durva” in hindi.
~ Ganpati love incense sticks, so have it there. A diya shall be lighted at least twice a day while doing aarti.
~ The elephant God is fond of food, therefore keep some modak, ladoos, fruits and dry fruits there.
~ You can beautify the place according to your creativity.
SOME THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
~ Always keep a glass of water near the idol so that god is never thirsty
~ Do not leave the God alone. If by chance you have to do so, tell Him that you will be back soon.
~ Do not gossip or talk negative issues during this period
~ Think good for all
~ Talk to God about your problems and worries. It is believed that during this period God takes away all your worries
~ Keep chanting mantra and aarti etc, it is basically a type of meditation to be focused on positive things in life.
~ Avoid consumption of onion, garlic and non-veg during this period.
Any religious celebration, ritual and tradition is all about faith. These festivals are celebrated so that we can take our mind off the worldly sins and pleasures while allowing our self to be in service of the divinity.
