This essay will teach us about the touch screen technology, which has assimilated into our daily life.  Nearly everything has a touchscreen nowadays, including mobile phones, tablets, laptops, cars, gaming consoles, printers, elevators, businesses, ATMs, malls, and ticket vending machines to name a few.

The development of touch screen technology has likewise followed an exponential trajectory due to the rise in demand for simple and intuitive GUIs (graphical user interfaces). Therefore, we will try to learn a little bit about touch screen technology, including the various types of touch screen technologies that are available, their benefits and drawbacks, etc.

A touch screen is what?
A Touch Screen is, to put it simply, an electronic system's input device. If we look at our computers, the keyboard and mouse are the traditional input methods. On a touch screen, however, you can simply tap the screen to give the system input.

While an electronic display unit may or may not be present in a touch screen device, in most cases the touch screen technology is fixed on top of the display (much like in a mobile phone).

With the advent of touch screen technology, the way we use electronic gadgets like TVs and smartphones has drastically changed. For instance, using a computer is incredibly straightforward because you can control it entirely through its display without the use of any other input devices.

Touch screen components
Any touch screen device, including smartphones and tablets, typically has three crucial parts. As follows:

Software for Touch Sensor Controllers
The gadget that measures the parameters of contact between a device and an item is called a touch sensor. It gauges the contact pressure everywhere.

Read "Touch Sensors" for more details on touch sensors.

The controller is in charge of gathering "touch" data from the touch sensor and sending it to a CPU or microcontroller, which is the main controlling device.

Last but not least, it is up to the software to ensure that the main microcontroller or CPU communicates effectively with the touch sensor and its controller.

Types of Touchscreen Technology
There are 5 different sorts of touch screen technologies based on the Touch Sensors that were employed in their creation. As follows:

Technology for Resistive Touch Screens
Technology for Capacitive Touch Screens
Technology for Infrared Touch Screens
Technology for Acoustic Wave Touch Screens
Technology for Touch Screen Near Field Imaging
Let's take a quick look at each of these technologies. Before getting into the specifics, keep in mind that practically all touch screen devices are typically a component of a display unit, such as an LCD, TFT, LED, CRT, etc.
