The date of 6th september 2018 was an unforgettable day for the LGBT community. The Honourable Supreme Court struck down section 377 which deals with unnatural sex between adults is illegal in nature, the court observed and said that Section 377 - consensual homosexual sex between adults was unconstitutional, “irrational, indefensible and manifestly arbitrary”, but that Section 377 remains in force relating to sex with minors, non-consensual sexual acts and bestiality. This judgement came in the case of Navtej Singh Johar v Union of India, after this judgement the LGBT community was in joy. But whether their freedom under Article 14 and 21 is protective or not is the question.
India is the only country that have undergone many changes other than any other country in this world , but what is the benefit to it's citizens?. This question is very common among the people in the country. Is India still following the very Concept of Democracy, when people of other country describes about India they add a sentence “ The world's largest democratic country”, but when an Indian hears the same , a strong question arises in their mind that would be “ whether our country is still democratic or not?”. Most of the youth are having a similar doubt regarding the same. Are they getting the freedom or is it still loading!
This title is for those whose voice are still not heard, The LGBT community. Even the law changed but the mindset of the people have not yet loaded, It's still buffering, but there are few who are able to understand them and had comeforward, one such is THE BHIMA , the brand's jewellery ad was getting viral on social media recently. The change they brought was unique, the first time they introduced a transwomen as their model and that got a huge appreciation too. But still the freedom is loading for those who are suffering. Only few reached the high level and got recognised. The mentality towards them are still the same for half of the people.
Family is the biggest supportive system for each one but for them they aren't. Instead of treating them as what they are and how they are made, they are seeing them as bane to their family, the society. They are still discriminated in every aspects of the society, they don't have even the right to speak out.
The attitude of society is malicious and is the violation of Article 14 and 21 of the Indian constitution. The right to lead a dignified life without any discrimination is everyone's right, The attitude towards them from the society is such that they are not even considered as humans, Only few people have supported the LGBT community, by that itself it can be concluded that even if the constitution is giving them the freedom, they are not able to enjoy it, they are still struggling to live a dignified life as every individual in this country.
One word to the youth in the country you the youth is considered as a future asset to this country, you should be the voice of the voiceless. Through your support they should achieve the ultimate Freedom, THE FREEDOM SHOULD BE LOADED!
