I work in a real estate construction company situated in Patna, Bihar. The name of that company is Sri Anuanand Construction Pvt Ltd. I work as an assistant general manager. I have been working there for the last 3 and half years.
During my years of job experience, I tried to learn all the intrinsic aspects involved in this job profession. This job does not mean sitting in a big office under air condition and checking paper works throughout the day. yes, some days are like that but some days require you to be present at the site where construction is happening. it requires you to stand under the sun and stand in the rain alongside all junior employees and junior staff. It is also mandatory to give them motivation and show them that they are not alone, working for a company that does not care about their employees or laborers.
When I joined the company I started a tradition that on every occasion all employees and upper management will go to the site and celebrate half of the festivities with laborers and site supervisors. Every employee and junior staff are to be rewarded for their hard work and loyalty.
What this job requires is more than any technical knowledge or acumen, it requires an extra effort from the management to show the laborers working day and night that it is not in vain. As unlike most jobs ( Corporate or noncorporate), this job requires physical labor to commence construction work. Yes, we are converting more towards machinery and equipment, but the operators and contractor's crew do the hard work.
This job has taught me many things, one of those things is to have patience. Sometimes, I would be at the site and I would see ten things going wrong over which we have no control and/or we can not control them. For example, materials getting delayed, heavy rainfall, change in government policies and restrictions, and whatnot. But we realize that if we continue to give our best and hard work. If we continue to strive for success, it is eventually going to be found by us.
We have more than five ongoing construction sites in the Panta region. We are thinking of expanding to my home town, Ranchi, Jharkhand.
All of the things I mentioned earlier requires you to interact with people. You must interact with your workers and be present on construction site. Which is not possible for you to do when you are doing WORK FROM HOME.
That is why I think, Work From Home culture is more suited to IT industries, as everything they are building, it is in their computer.
Thanks
