If you are reading this blog then i guess you are an Army(Fandom name of BTS). If you are not a fan and interested in BTS then i really appreciate it, you are the rare precious gem who is smart and broadminded than the people who are hating on BTS thoughtlessly because of their race. If you are here because you want to learn about the biggest boyband in the world and why they are famous, then i'm really thankful to you that you are taking time of your day to learn about them because you won't regret it. If you are a hater who wants to know why so many people are supporting them and how's their songs are like, then thank you for reconsidering and trying to learn about them because you are actually trying to find fault in them unlike other haters who just attacks them mindlessly just because they are Asian.
BTS is really famous right now and are gaining recognition among the locals not because they are tall, handsome or some boyband from South Korea. They are famous for promoting self love, helping people heal from their music and spreading positive messages worldwide through their music as music has no barrier.
Let's start with who they are. BTS is a South Korean boyband with seven members who debuted in 2013 under BigHit Entertainment( now it's HYBE Labels). The members are Kim Seokjin(JIN)(Vocalist), Min Yoongi(SUGA)(Rapper), Jung Hoseok(J-HOPE)(Rapper), Kim Namjoon(RM)(Rapper)(Leader), Park Jimin(JIMIN)(Vocalist), Kim Taehyung(V)(Vocalist), Jeon Jungkook(JUNGKOOK)(Vocalist), with ages older to younger respectively.
Let's start with the topic in hand today, Meaningful songs of BTS and the reason why they are actually supported by so many people worldwide.
This song was released in 2015 in the album ‘ The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 2’. The lyrics of this song expresses the feeling of losing someone through the simile of butterfly. This song was focused towards their fans. This songs asks the fans if they will stay with them through the thick and thin, even in rough times. They also reached out to their international fans as they are very far away from them. That they are scared to lose their loved ones, their fans, as the lyrics goes, "Will you stay by my side, will you promise me, if I let go of your hand, you'll fly away and break, I'm scared scared scared of that, will you stop time, if this moment passes, as though it hadn't happened, I'm scared scared scared I'll lose you" “ You are there but for some reason, I can't reach you, stop, you, who's like a dream is a Butterfly high to me”.
2. Answer: Love Myself
This song was released in 2018 in the album, ‘Love Yourself: Answer’. This song has a special place in my heart as it speaks about the struggles of loving and accepting oneself. This song is about learning to love yourself and the struggles that comes along with it. Through this song, BTS tells their fans that it's alright if you are not perfect, it's alright if you are not the happiest person alive and that you are not born to be perfect but to be you. The lyrics goes like, “ Let's admit what we have to admit, the standards you put are harsher on yourself” It conveys how we compare ourselves to others and hate that we are not perfect like other people. by doing this, you are pushing yourself too hard. You'd wish why you are not pretty or why you are not born skinny but in the process you forget that you are born to be you not anybody else.
3. Truth Untold
This song was released in 2018 in the album ‘Love Yourself: Tear’. There is a story behind this song. The story takes place in the city La Citta Di Smeraldo, or the city of Smeraldo. There was a man who was very very ugly that he couldn't bear it and shut himself in a castle. His only joy was gardening. One day a woman came to his garden and stole some of his flowers, the next day she came again and stole some more flowers, this keeps going on until one day the ugly man got so furious that the the woman keeps stealing the flowers and he couldn't catch her. So one day the man put on his mask and cloak and went out to follow her. There he found out that the woman was ill and poor and her only source of income was from selling his flowers. He feel bad and wanted to help her but he didn't had the courage to approach her because he was afraid that she might run away if she saw him because he's ugly. So all he could do was plant flowers for her to steal. One day he got an idea, he can create a new kind of flower that never existed before so that the girl could sell it for loads of money and thus, he locked himself up and started on his plan. After so many tries, he finally created a one of a kind flower. But the woman didn't come back to steal. After few days the man got restless and put on his mask and cloak to went out. Then he found out that the woman had died. He deeply regretted that he didn't had the courage to face her and wondered that what if he had came out to her? what if he had approached her instead of locking himself inside his castle cowardly? Would everything be different now?
