Are We Consuming Technology Or Technology Is Consuming Us?
Well, indeed this is one of the biggest concerns before all of the Millennials and even their family members today. Technology is actually available everywhere and to be true most of our daily works is dependent on technology.
Starting from waking up in the morning to sleeping at night, we as an individual spend almost 4-5 hours using the technological devices like social media, entertainment devices, or smart speakers. Keeping the basic official work aside, the time of this 4-5 hours is comparatively high.
So now the question that arises again here is are we consuming the technology or the technology is consuming us?
The truth here can be a bit harsh but actually, technology is consuming us. 90% of our work is influenced by technology today. T
- The normal thinking capacity of individuals has reduced as people are now more reliant on technology to get answers to most of the questions.
- The physical activities of kids have reduced tremendously. Kids now prefer to sit on the couch with mobile phones in their hands and play a plethora of games and watch videos.
- For working professionals, now most of the work is done on computers which means the individuals are now not required to memorize the facts or important information, which is making them slaves of technology.
- For students, the projects today look like a simple collection of data from the internet and copying them in the copy. The pain of reading through the physical books to gain insight is replaced by using the keywords and search option.
- Now let us come to get-togethers. people used to meet at a place, sit, have chitchats, funs, and spend time. Today rather than stepping out of the house to meet your friends, people now prefer to use the meeting apps in the comfort of home.
- Last the story nights. I am sure you all remember the story nights with parents or grandparents but today it is the story night with Alexa or Siri. The smart speakers have replaced the fun of listening to the stories, asking questions, and spending some quality time.
So now let us get back to our primary question, are we actually falling prey to the hands of technology? Indeed, yes we are. While the majority of the tasks that are required to be performed by us today are completed by technology, there is a lack of the personal touch that we all expect to have.
Yes, technology is important but there is a need for change in the use of same at the earliest.
