About:
Vasota also known as Vyaghragad, is situated in most bio-diverse forest, falling under Sahyadri Tiger Reserve, Satara. It located near Bamnoli village on banks of Shivsagar lake.As the fort fall under tiger reserve there is fixed time to visit the fort and we need to take permission from forest office at Bamnoli before we commence the trek. From Bamnoli we need to take beautiful 1.5 hours boat ride to reach base of vasota.

Way for vasota starts with boating from koyana backwards, what a silent, beautiful nature! Boating experience is one of most amazing as all koyana backwards covered with green mountains from all sides. we need nearly 90 mins to reach base of fort. After walking for about 15 minutes there you will locate a forest office which collects a deposit of plastic bottles, Lunch box and all the plastic material you have with you while returning you need to show them the same quantity to avail the deposit back. and then our trek starts, we need about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach top of fort.This trek routes takes you through dense jungle with a thrilling experience. views from top is just eye catching, dense forest, best view of koyana backward. There is one ancient Mahadev temple on top one should visit there. For completing a trek ones physical fitness is much important with mental strength as well. you can experience lake side camping near Shivsagar lake on koyana backwards. near vasota there's old vasota, but it close for visitors as there's wild animals are there. vasota fort get closed at sharp 4 pm, so you need to descaling before that. guide is compulsory for trek as wild animals are present on fort.
Difficulty level:
I would rate vasota fort jungle trek as moderate level trek in terms of difficulty. vasota fort trek is approximately 6 km one way and it takes around 2 hours to reach top. There aren't many steep patches, it is a gradual climb through the dense forest cover, so trekking in hot summer won't be a problem as well.
Places to see:
1.Shivsagar lake: it is a point from which you need to board a boat. its beautiful lake and you get great view of koyana backwards.
2.Mahadev mandir.
3.Nageshwar kada: from top of vasota you can see Nageshwar kada and beautiful view of many nearby trekking points.
Best time to visit:
Best time to visit vasota is during winter seasons. not recommended during rainy seasons as it gets slippery. yes, one can visit it during summer season too.
