Jagadish (Vijay) is part of a battalion of military officers who are on vacation in Mumbai. Jagadish is also an undercover Defense Intelligence Agency agent who can't contain himself, harassing his friend and sub-inspector his Sathyan. While on the bus, Jagdish faces an even bigger problem when he tries to search a passenger for his lost wallet. Within minutes, the bus is blown to pieces and Jagdish helps the police catch a bomb carrier who has escaped from the hospital, but he is caught by Jagadish again. Jagadish follows one clue after he track down the terroist on whose orders the sleeper cell terrorists planning to wreak havoc in mumbai. Catching a terrorist (Vidyut Jamwal) is not easy. Realizing that some other than the police is following in this footsteps, Vidyut plays the game as well. The cat-and-mouse game continues until the final showdown.

Vijay is in good shape, showing a mature and understated performance when needed. He incorporates his elements in his dance sequences, proving once again that he is one of the best dancer in South Indian Cinema. Kajal Agarwal does a very good job of playing the bubbly girl that is expected of her.

In between, there's a yes-no-yes-no romance between Jagadish and Nisha (kajal Agarwal), with high-ranking military officer Jayaram Providing a bit of an obstacle. Murgados tries to weave romance into this action thrillers, but at some point the scene ends like a thumb. Also, the randomly placed song sequence slows down the pace of the film. Cinematographer Santhosh Sivan and editor Sreekar Prasad are a big asset  to Thuppakki. Santosh Sivan and team do a commendable job in the croweded alleys of mumbai, especially in the pre-interval scene where Vijay and his 11 associates close in on 12 sleeper cell terrorists. Even in the simplest of shots, Sivan's camera unleashes it's magic, gently playing with light and shadows or adding vibrant warm sunlight. Sreekar Prasad's editing gives the film the pacing it needs in key scenes. The song (composed by Harris Jayaraj) was found to be lacking compared to the Tamil original.

In one of this first promotions for the film, featuring Mumbai snaps, lurking terror, and an antagonist threatening Vijay, he replied, “I'm waiting,” and went viral on his social media. For audiences, it's clear that the wait was worth it.

Today Thalapathy Vijay Fans are trends hastags 10 years of block buster.
