One of the most important aspects of leadership is emotional intelligence, which is the innate capacity to understand and relate to the emotions and feelings of others. Another name for it is emotional quotient, or EQ. It is described as a person's ability to recognise their own feelings. Emotional intelligence includes the ability to distinguish between various feelings and the use of the proper emotional guide to correctly name each sensation and emotion.

Since empathy is associated with a person who draws connections between their own experiences and those of others, it is an emotion that is somewhat tied to emotional intelligence. The four main characteristics of emotional intelligence are self-aspects, which include the ability to restrain impulsive thoughts, feelings, and behaviours as well as the ability to regulate emotions in a healthy way. The second quality is self-awareness, which is the ability to identify one's own feelings and thoughts and how they influence one's actions.

Social awareness is the third characteristic of emotional intelligence. The individual possesses empathy and is able to comprehend the needs, feelings, and worries of others. Empathy is the capacity to detect emotional cues and to understand the influence of social dynamics. The connection management component is the last quality. This quality facilitates early communication, dispute resolution, and the development and maintenance of positive relationships.

The impacts of emotional intelligence are real. Possessing high emotional intelligence makes it easier to succeed in a job, inspire others, and negotiate the social complexity of the workplace or educational setting. Emotional intelligence facilitates emotional regulation. Stress management will not be optimal if emotions are not managed appropriately. When one is in emotional balance, one can fulfil a societal duty. Having connections with individuals worldwide is beneficial.

Emotional intelligence is a set of abilities that can be acquired at any moment. Learning emotional intelligence and putting it to use in day-to-day activities are two different things. Learning how to manage stress and become emotionally aware is necessary if one wants to permanently alter their conduct to withstand pressure.

An integral component of emotional intelligence is self-awareness. Knowing one's own strengths and making good use of them helps. Emotional intelligence is one of the most important skills in today's world to succeed and achieve goals. Happiness in general is a result of emotional intelligence.

A contented and tranquil mind is the result of emotional intelligence. It also promotes behaviour that is reasonable. This feature helps a person put the circumstances around the behaviour in the proper context. With the appropriate viewpoint, one can build the right kind of relationship. According to studies, those with high EI also tend to have superior personality qualities, leadership abilities, excellent mental health, and better job performance.

A person with high emotional intelligence can overcome low self-esteem, improve his life, and lead a better living environment.
