let there be no fads about eating and drinking. That vegetarian food could be better than no vegetarian food and vice versa, for it is not the food but how and in what particular manner we eat that makes the difference "kill not your hearts with excess of eating and drinking" say the masters. food should be simple and never rich, one course is better than many. Do not eat like a hungry lion but with gratitude that we have been given a chance to live this human life as a stepping stone to a much higher life. As in sleep we should curtail the size of our meal and its frequencies.
and by very slow stages form new habits of eating. Do nothing in a hurry.
"there fore i say onto you be not solicitious for your life, what you shall eat nor for your body what shall you put on is not life more than meat and the body more than raiment?"
for person over the age of 21 the growth of body is over. food then meet the need to replace worn out tissues of body. Therefore we do not wish to recommend the way of life for those who have not yet completed 21 years. should they wish to follow they are welcome to do so. as no harm will result. Our reason is not recommending ia that the seriousness of life should not be brought in too early in life unless of course it surges from within a person.
if we avoid waste of physical, emotional, mental and sex energies we shall be able to create a great economy so that with controlled food habits and reduced food intake and less of sleep, we will feel better, fresher and healthier.
After preventing waste we also take remedial steps. The first step is to reduce all food intake to zero before 10 am to 11 am. this should be done gradually over a period of 15 to 20 weeks. then only one meal between 10 am to 2 pm should be major meal for a time. nothing should be done simply because of feeling that we are missing something. Take longer to curtail food, if this feeling is registered. make no use of will power and do not mention to anyone that you are on diet. you are certainly not dieting but only correcting. if we have givenup pleasant way of life i. e eating, sleeping, drinking as much as and whenever we like. let us have no water or any other drink during meal. we have formed habit of taking something with tea in the afternoon or evening let us therefire over a period of 15 to 20 weeks slowly eliminate all food intake till the night mill. slowly but resolutely reduce the food intake at night over a period of 15 to 20 weeks then drop this night meal altogether.
