Israel's war on gaza:

The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza claims that malnutrition is currently putting over 200 Palestinian youngsters in danger of death. Rafah is under attack from Israeli jets, attack drones, and helicopter gunships while Palestinian fighters resist Israeli troops in street fights. US President Joe Biden stated that he did not anticipate a cease-fire agreement in Gaza anytime soon. In response to a question from reporters regarding when a truce might be achieved, Biden stated, "I haven't lost hope." Following Israeli airstrikes on residential buildings in northern Gaza City, at least 14 Palestinians lost their lives. Israeli forces replied to Hezbollah's massive drone and missile strike on northern military installations in Israel with a devastating bombing in the country's south.

Rescue underway:

The Philippines has reported that the crew of a Greek-owned ship that was damaged in a Houthi raid in the Red Sea should be rescued within the day, while one sailor is still missing. The Tutor, a coal carrier flying the flag of Liberia, was rendered immobile following the attack in the Yemeni port of Hodeidah on Wednesday, resulting in significant flooding and damage to the engine room. It needed to be saved since it was consuming water. Since November, the Houthis have repeatedly attacked ships in the Red Sea's shipping lanes, the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, and the Gulf of Aden with drones and missiles, claiming they are supporting the Palestinians fighting in Gaza.

Ceasefire proposal

The group reaffirmed its position that any agreement must put an end to the war—a requirement Israel continues to reject—but it did welcome a new ceasefire proposal from the United States and made some changes. Israel declared that Hamas had completely rejected the latest peace plan from the United States. However, the United States-backed mediators Qatar and Egypt say that more work needs to be done to reach a deal. There have been several attempts to broker a ceasefire since a short-lived week-long truce in November, but Hamas has insisted on a permanent stop to the war and an Israeli exit from Gaza.

Recent updates:

Israeli and US-backed plans for a cease-fire and hostage exchange seem to be on hold as neither party has made a formal commitment to the proposal. Following US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's inquiry into whether the militant group was acting in good faith, Hamas declared that it had demonstrated "necessary positivity". Both Israel and Hamas were judged to have committed severe violations of international law and war crimes during the initial months of the Gaza conflict by a United Nations investigation. The UN assistance director issued a warning on Wednesday, stating that more than a million Palestinians "are expected to face death and starvation by the middle of July." As the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported on Thursday that a region teeming with refugees was being attacked, Israel's military denied hitting a designated "safe zone" in Gaza.
