one of the cardinal aims of education is today the foundation for the building up of a healthy personality. The very purpose of education is not merely keeping children occupied or providing then with formal text -book oriented education, but to creat an apt value based education these days, prove that the present education system has failed in generating such a value system. It is necessary to examine the lacuna in the present education system to consider a remodeling of the same for desired values. Values must have evolved out of human experience to help man lead worthwhile life. Swami Vivekananda defined education as the manifestation of the perfection, already in man, mark Twain deemed it as a means of training that transform a cabbage into a cauliflower. A judicious combination of the two that hint at still as well as morality would perhaps result in creating ideal human being who can transform society for better tomorrow. Education has a generalized as well as specific definition. Any process of rearing, training & instruction may be branded education, but more specifically. It is distinguished from training & develops understanding that makes life worthwhile. Dr. Radhakrishnan & Tagore prescribed a healthier form of education that should replace the one merely preparing me for formal degrees & jobs. It should stress the pursuit of what is worthwhile & intrinsic & encourage a spirit of reason, incompatible with dogmatism & authoritarianism. The USA, UK, & other western countries, despite their unmatched standard of academic pursuits, have a gun culture prevalent among it's youth. The present school & college level curriculum may be excellent academically but the apparent deterioration in our society may be the result of the absence of a strong & effective moral foundation. The letter prepares an individual with a mindset that is susceptible to temptation & disintegrates when external pressure & incentive are withdrawn.some of the devices use for incalculating values range from plain coercion to extreme liberalism, though real education should stimulate the learner, not under coercion, but understanding.It is one of the most important things because without education, you cannot contribute to the world or earn money, and lack knowledge. Knowledge is power.Gaining knowledge alone doesn’t make one educated, and education is complete when we learn how to live, how to hope, how to pray, and how to behave to others. Education is self-empowerment. It’s only when a citizen is aware about the policies of its government can he be able to support or protest the change. Education helps you realise your potential and qualities as a human being.
