When I hear the word Titanic, I think of the real-life ship that tragically sank in 1912. While the movie directed by James Cameron is iconic, there are many fascinating facts about the actual Titanic worth exploring.

#The name written on the Titanic ship is RMS Titanic. RMS stands for Royal Mail Steamer. Royal Mail Steamers were vessels contracted to carry mail for the British Royal Mail service, which handled both mail and passengers.

#The RMS Titanic was under the command of Captain Edward John Smith, who tragically perished when the ship sank.

#The owner of the Titanic, J. P. Morgan, was indeed planning to travel on the maiden voyage but cancelled his plans prior to the ship's departure.

#The Titanic's maiden voyage began on Wednesday, April 10, 1912 at noon as scheduled.

#At 11:40 pm (ship's time) on April 14th, lookout Frederick Fleet spotted an iceberg directly ahead of the Titanic and promptly alerted the bridge.First Officer William Murdoch commanded the ship to veer around the iceberg and ordered the engines to be reversed, yet it proved futile. Titanic collided with the iceberg on its starboard side, resulting in a series of breaches below the waterline.

#truck an iceberg on 14th April on 1912 and sank 2 hr 40 min lateron 15th April 1912

#Frederick Fleet (15 October 1887 – 10 January 1965) was a British sailor and crewman who survived the sinking of the RMS Titanic.

#The first film about the disaster, "Saved from the Titanic," is a silent short film starring Dorothy Gibson, an American film actress who survived the sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 15, 1912. It was released just 29 days after the ship sank.

#As we all know the most successful movie about the Titanic shipwreck is James Cameron's "Titanic," which won 11 Oscars at the 70th Academy Awards.

#For a prestigious ship like the Titanic, all tickets were expected to be sold for its maiden voyage. However, due to a coal strike in the UK, many scheduled crossings were canceled. Although the strike ended before the maiden voyage, there wasn't enough time to rearrange everything as originally planned.

#When passengers waited to enter the lifeboats, they were entertained by the Titanic musicians who played in the first-class compartments.

#Lifeboat 7 was the first to depart the Titanic, with only 27 passengers on board, despite its capacity to hold 65. Due to the cancellation of the lifeboat drill, the crew was unaware of the lifeboat's full capacity. Ultimately, only 705 people were saved by lifeboats.

Even though the Titanic shipwreck occurred over 112 years ago, it still weighs heavily on our hearts as it claimed so many lives. Its maiden voyage became the final journey for numerous passengers, may they all rest in peace
