Oliver Twist 'It is a world of disappointment: often to the hopes we most cherish' By the greatest Charles Dickens!
The Story is about a boy whose life is full of ill episodes but a happy ending. To me this story has something to ponder about; theme, characters and location, all of them are very crucial but more importantly for me is the statement of the young man while he was in the orphanage “I want more”.
This was the statement spoken to the man in charge of the daily meal, he was hungry and surprisingly this was the beginning of his problems, yet it was the passport to getting a better Life.
“It is a world of disappointment: often to the hopes we most cherish, and hopes that do our nature the greatest honour.” Born into a life of impoverishment, orphaned at birth, Oliver Twist begins his life in a workhouse. Apprenticed to Mr. Sowerberry, he flees to London on being beaten.
Oliver Twist is a common phrase used for people who are not contented. The story by Charles dickens about Oliver Twist as a man on the journey of Life or that on a spiritual one. Your beginning might be little but you must yet yearn for something big or should I say think big. To want more comes with a desire, an expectation that there is more or you can have more, certainly you can’t ask for more when you know there aren’t going to be more.
If you have read this book, you will realize that this was the beginning of suffering for the young lad and whenever he found relief, he would be robbed of it and brought again into pain most time intensified, but better is the end of a thing than its beginning.
The point am trying to enunciate is in your quest for more in all that surrounds your life, don’t always expect something appetizing (not saying it couldn’t be). Joseph was destined to be great but the situation around is life looked like a Fluke, yet something was playing out.
Nothing great usually appear mighty from the start, it takes Nurturing, believe, drive, passion, desire, hunger to want it so badly that you could give up your life for it. You just have to be willing, it’s willingness that helps visions expand and pushes one to pursue.
Oliver Twist is such a wonderful story, but sadly this particular edition has been poorly formatted. Many words are joined together and some of the punctuation is off!
