Everyone will love hearing stories and I am very glad to share this story of three chickens taking revenge for their mother's death.
Once there were a hen and a jackal who were great friends. One day, they decides to have a feast. They brewed beer for the occasion. When the beer was ready, jackal invited hen to his house. Hen went to the jackal's house, but she could not even touch his beer for it smelt so badly.
Then, the hen invited jackal to her house. The jackal visited her house. Her beer was very nice and they drank to their full. The hen drank heavily and began to stagger about. The jackal made up his mind that he would eat the hen to satisfy his hunger. So, when he saw her over drunk, he felt delighted. he thought that it would be easier for him to kill the drunk hen. He sang: β O hen, do not graze in the field! Jackal laughs to see you. Paddy bird, do not fish in the pond! You pecked a piece of sedge thinking it was a frog's leg! Do not drink rice beer, O hen! Jackal laughs to see you.β
Then he gobbled her up. The jackal resolved to eat the chicken also. So, he asked them where they slept. They replied, βIn the hearth." But when the jackal had gone, the chickens planned how they could save their lives. Their mother had laid an egg but there was no one to hatch it now. So, they said, β Egg, you must lie in the fireplace and blind the jackal." Then they said to the paddy husker, " You must stand by the door and when the jackal comes, you must knock him down. They told the paddy mortar to wait on the roof over the door and fall and crush the jackal. They put the egg in the fireplace and they themselves sat in a cupboard with axes in their hands.
When the jackal came, he went to the fireplace. At once, the egg burst and blinded him. The frightened jackal tried to run away but the paddy husker knocked him down. When he tried to crawl away, the paddy mortar fell on him from the roof and crushed him. then the furious chickens ran out with their axes and chopped him to pieces. Thus, they revenged their mother's death.
I hope everyone loved this story and you may not heard this. On my next blog I will come up with an interesting story of Indian Folk tales.
