Buenas tardes mi amigos.. It means ‘Good evening’ in Spanish.. Stressful situations are unavoidable and is a part of lives happening throughout, ranging from minor annoyances like a snoozed alarm to more serious worries, such as a unsatisfied job. Irrespective of the cause, stress makes hormones to flood our body in-turn causing increased, rapid heart beats and muscle tensing. Sometimes I feel like a heavy weight being pressed over my chest. This response of our body is known as ‘Stress response’. Since stress has become something which is totally unavoidable at any cost, lets know and have some relaxing techniques rolled up in our sleeves to use in times of stress.

Following are some of the relaxation techniques that can help to evoke the relaxation response resulting in reduced stress.

Breath focus. It is a simple, powerful technique we all commonly follow to relax our mind and body quickly.. A slow, long and deep breaths helps us to regain our composure, to clear up the mind, to slow down the fastening heart beat. People with breathing difficulty and any respiratory illness may find it difficult, instead try out the other following stress reducing techniques (Lets dont focus on our breaths).

Guided imagery. It a most exciting and my favourite technique.. So how its done ? Easy, think of any scene, place or experience in your mind and try to live in it without any cross thoughts. Some may find it difficult to get a mental imagination, in that case you can think of your own life sweet memories which may ease your mind and heart.

Body scan.  It is a technique that blends breath focus with muscle relaxation. After a few minutes of deep breathing, focussing on one part of the body or group of muscles at a time and mentally releasing any physical tension present in that specific part. Sometimes while taking a shower, focussing on the water sliding throughout our from head to toe slowly will also helps us to feel calm and relaxed.

Repetitive prayer. Repeating a short prayer or phrase calmly in your mind while practicing breath focus never fails to calm our mind and body. It doesnt have to a spiritual or religious prayers, a phrases that have a power over your mind will do..'ALL IS WELL' as told in a Tamil Movie- Nanban is one such word.

Mindfulness meditation. It is most commonly suggested technique..Sitting comfortably with focus on breathing helps to deal with anxiety,depression.. Initially, one may find it difficult to get your minds full attention to the present moment as it keeps on drifting to either present or future but eventually you will get it in control and will be a pro.

Experts recommends to choose more than one technique to observe which suits and works out best personally.

Choose your relaxation technique..

 Thank you for your time..

Lets keep our soul searching…
