At the very earliest stage was the law of the jungle. 'Bali to kaan pili' was the justice. People started coming together, helping each other, respecting each other's rights, from which institutions like family and society were born. Some started hunting, some started cooking, some started raising children, some started taking care of the sick and old, some started protecting from beasts, some helped each other, cooperated.। So people realized that life can be lived better. . Dhar became, the group of houses became villages. Man has learned that like us, others have the right to live, he is also a partaker of this planet. If we want rights, then we have the duty not to encroach on others. He acknowledged that the recognition of rights by others means a duty to protect these rights. 'Just as I have the right to walk on public roads, to drive on vehicle rights, so do others. So it was my duty to take care not to hurt others while walking or driving. Although I have the right to use a loudspeaker to perform a pooja or a wedding ceremony, it is my duty not to use a loudspeaker so that my neighbors do not fall asleep at night. It is also my duty not to play songs from the neighbor's loudspeaker while the student is immersed in the study. Although I have the right to claim my allowances, it is my duty not to use this right to defame others. In this way, the right of one man becomes the duty of another and the right of another becomes the duty of the first. Every right has a duty.
Some duties are imposed by law. It has nothing to do with other people's rights. For example, 'I have the right to earn by labor or service. However, if this income exceeds a certain limit, it is my duty to pay the tax imposed by the government on it. The land will belong to me, I will have the right to manage it and get its income. But I have to fill the farm on time, it is my duty.
Some rights and duties are born out of action, while some are born out of social norms. Violation of the law can lead to punishment. Violation of the duty of social recognition or encroachment on the rights of others does not lead to punishment, but we can be subject to the wrath of society. Article 42A of the 42nd Amendment to the Constitution of India, 1976, specifies certain duties of citizens. It states that it is the duty of the citizens to strive for brotherhood among the Indian people as per sub-clause E and to abandon the norms which are against the dignity of women.
