Ways To Combat Anxiety - Part 2 | Be Kind To Your Mind!

In my previous blog, I shared some long term strategies to cure anxiety. But here I am going to talk about some short term strategies and calm yourself as fast as possible. It will prevent intense and repeated episodes of anxiety and get your mental health back on track.

If you have persistant anxiety and want to get rid of it quickly then try the methods given below :

Listen to music or podcasts

Listening to music and podcasts diverts your mind from intense thoughts. Music relaxes the body and mind by

  • Lowering stress hormones.
  • Slowing down pulse and heart rate.
  • Lowering blood pressure.

Read self-help books

It improves your mindset by overcoming negative thoughts and helps you to develop a positive and optimistic attitude towards life.

Writing your thoughts

As I told in my last blog that by keeping journals you can easily analyze your thoughts and know the trigger of your anxiety. Writing journals is more beneficial when you focus on positive aspects of your life.

Go for a walk or drive

A short walk can ease your anxiety and stress. You can also opt for a short drive so that your mind can move away from anxious thoughts.

Use fragrance to relax

In aromatherapy, several calming scents are used to fix bad mood. Fragrance of oranges or lemon, lavender oil or other essential oils, etc can relax your mood and beneficial in curing anxiety at home.

Get a massage

It relaxes your body as well as mind and makes you feel lighter and happier.

Engaging in creative activities

Indulge yourself in creative activities like writing, painting, craft work, etc as per your interest in order to focus your attention away from your worries.

Make a particular time for worry

Schedule a particular time for worry in your daily routine. Doing this will keep you away from constant worries throughout the day.

Deep breathing

Breathing slower and deeper slows your heart rate and hence, brings you peace. Focus on your breathe while breathing in and out.

Play puzzels and brain games

It diverts your mind from recurrent worries and concerns. Play them with free mind and don't force your brain to do the same.

Chewing gums

Chewing gum works as an instant stress reliever. It allows blood flow through your brain and help you relax and free from stress.

Laugh and watch something funny

Laughing can brighten your mood by increasing oxygen flow through your brain and reducing stress hormones. So watch some funny movies, shows, videos, etc to cheer yourself.

Spend time with your close ones and pet

Being around your family and friends helps you get through tough times. They give you social and emotional support and don't let you feel alone. Spending time with your pet makes you active and happy.

Try your best to heal yourself. Eventually you are the only one who has to face all the stuff.

But always remember one thing that you are not alone and have your loved ones' back. ๐Ÿ˜Š
