Navratri means 9 nights! Navratri occurs over 9days during month of ASHWINA i.e (September and October). Ends often with DUSSHERA also known as VIJAYADASHAMI.
Navratri is celebrated differently in India's various regions. For many its about fasting whereas for others it is period of dancing and feasting. Nine nights are dedicated to different aspects of “Divine feminine principle” or "Shakti".

The act of PADASPARSHAN(pada-feet, sparshan-touch) has a profound scientific reason.
